Insurance and the Ontario Interlock Program: What to Know
What is separate from your policy, what a broker will ask for, and why a driving school should not be the one giving you insurance guidance.
We are a driving school, not insurance advisors. This is background so a conversation with a broker goes better, and nothing more than that.

We are not licensed to advise on insurance, we do not sell it, and we have no commercial relationship with anyone who does. Ontario’s insurance sector is regulated by FSRA, and the right person to speak to is a licensed broker who regularly places high-risk drivers.
We publish no premium figures, here or anywhere. The ranges circulating online are anecdotal, frequently stale, and never specific to you.
The Facility Association is Ontario’s mechanism of last resort for drivers who cannot obtain coverage in the ordinary market. It exists so that someone declined elsewhere can still be insured, because driving uninsured is not a lawful alternative.
It is not an insurance company and it does not issue policies. By its own description, it works with member insurance companies that issue the policies, collect the premiums and handle the claims on its behalf. So the paperwork arrives from a named insurer; the Facility Association sits behind it.
It is also not a punishment or a category you are formally assigned to. It is a pool that catches what the regular market declines.
Because a conviction changes how the ordinary market prices and accepts you, and some insurers decline outright. A broker who handles high-risk placements will usually try the standard market first, then specialist insurers, and mention the Facility Association if neither works.
If it comes up in the first two minutes of a conversation, it is fair to ask what else was tried.
That last one matters most. A placement made in the worst month of your record does not have to be permanent.
Only the driving side: whether you need a road test, what the vehicle has to carry, and how the interlock condition works. Licence reinstatement in Ontario, step by step is the part we can speak to with confidence.
Not directly. It does not issue policies itself. A member insurance company issues the policy, collects the premium and handles any claim, with the Facility Association behind the arrangement.
No, and we would be guessing if we tried. It depends on the insurer, your wider record and the market on the day. Ask a licensed broker who handles high-risk placements.

We rent an interlock-equipped car for a G2 or G road test and teach the device in ten hours of in-car training. Send the date and we will quote it in writing.
Phone is faster. Someone answers Monday to Saturday, evenings included.
